Bloom Where You're Planted

A few months ago we had a Relief Society get together (formerly enrichment night) and a sister in the ward shared 10 tips for how to "Bloom Where You're Planted." Then a couple weeks ago we had another get together and they gave all the sisters a laminated card with those 10 tips on it. Matt saw it and said, "Is this like a survival guide for stay at home moms?" :) I'm pretty sure that's not how it was meant but I've really applied some of these things and they've helped me a lot so I thought I'd share the tips.

1.Get out and move
-I always feel TONS better when I can get out of the house and/or exercise.
2. Eat Right
3. Dress Right
-I've found that if I actually get dressed and do my hair and makeup that I feel so much better about myself.
4. Surround yourself with people and things that lift you up.
5. Change the decor.
-I took all my pictures off the walls and put them in new places and re-arranged the living room and it helped my spirits more than I thought it would.
6. Be with others.
-Cause even though I love Brennen and wouldn't change where I spend my days it can get a little lonely sometimes just me and him.
7. Grow your interests.
8. Sign up to play a sport, take a class, or teach a class.
-It really helps me to be active and also do things to keep learning.
9. "Fertilize with love," serve others.
10. Look to the Son for strength.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. And as always I have to post a picture of Brennen. :)

2 months and an update

Brennen turned 2 months on Sunday! Crazy how time flies... We took him to the doctor the next day for his check up and shots. He weighed 11 pounds even and was 23 1/4 inches long. So about 30% for weight and 65% for length. He's holding his head up really well and has rolled over several times from tummy to back, twice at the doctor's office, the little show off. :) He also got shots which was probably harder on me than it was on him!
Matt is still working at Walgreen's in Cheyenne and starts class next week so he'll be pretty busy. He enjoys work despite the long, late hours and the 50 mile commute. It's giving him some really good pharmacy experience.
I just started working today as a part-time paraprofessional at Spring Creek Elementary here in Laramie. I have huge mixed feelings about it. It's kind of nice to get out of the house for awhile and it will be great for me to keep working in the school district and we could really use the little bit of extra income. But I was really bummed to leave Brennen today and finding child care for him is going to be a PAIN because Matt's schedule is always different so it's kind of stressing me out. Plus I'll get to see Matt even less because, tomorrow for example, I'll go to work from 8-12 and Matt will leave to go to work at 11:30 and won't be back until after 10 that night. And that will happen most weekdays. :(
Anyway, sorry for that little vent. I'll close this post with a picture of our little guy because it would be a boring post without it!

Family

I've been feeling really grateful for family lately and I wanted to say a few things about them. I don't usually do posts like this but I felt like it today.
My entire family came to my graduation last year and to Brennen's blessing last month and I'm thankful that they were all willing to come and see us even though we live far away. My parents have always been so loving and supportive and my siblings have all become my best friends. My "real" dad passed away when I was only a couple months old and my mom was only 24 and had three little girls to raise. That's when my other "real" dad stepped in! He met and married my mom and has treated me and my sisters like his own from day one and we've always felt that we belong to him (because we do). I love my family!

Matt's family is also so amazing and I'm so glad we live close because I don't know what we'd do sometimes without them. The other day Gwen watched Brennen for me and also came and rescued me when my car was dead and then let me borrow her car to run my errands. They're always helping us out with stuff and they feed us dinner a lot and we know we can always call any of them if we need anything and I'm SO grateful for that.

And I'm so happy that I married Matt! I couldn't ask for a better husband and eternal companion. He is amazing and works really hard and loves me and Brennen so much. Brennen is such a good little boy. He only wakes us up once in the night to eat and some nights he doesn't wake up at all until around 6:00! (like last night, thanks little boy!!)
