2 months and an update

Brennen turned 2 months on Sunday! Crazy how time flies... We took him to the doctor the next day for his check up and shots. He weighed 11 pounds even and was 23 1/4 inches long. So about 30% for weight and 65% for length. He's holding his head up really well and has rolled over several times from tummy to back, twice at the doctor's office, the little show off. :) He also got shots which was probably harder on me than it was on him!
Matt is still working at Walgreen's in Cheyenne and starts class next week so he'll be pretty busy. He enjoys work despite the long, late hours and the 50 mile commute. It's giving him some really good pharmacy experience.
I just started working today as a part-time paraprofessional at Spring Creek Elementary here in Laramie. I have huge mixed feelings about it. It's kind of nice to get out of the house for awhile and it will be great for me to keep working in the school district and we could really use the little bit of extra income. But I was really bummed to leave Brennen today and finding child care for him is going to be a PAIN because Matt's schedule is always different so it's kind of stressing me out. Plus I'll get to see Matt even less because, tomorrow for example, I'll go to work from 8-12 and Matt will leave to go to work at 11:30 and won't be back until after 10 that night. And that will happen most weekdays. :(
Anyway, sorry for that little vent. I'll close this post with a picture of our little guy because it would be a boring post without it!

Family

I've been feeling really grateful for family lately and I wanted to say a few things about them. I don't usually do posts like this but I felt like it today.
My entire family came to my graduation last year and to Brennen's blessing last month and I'm thankful that they were all willing to come and see us even though we live far away. My parents have always been so loving and supportive and my siblings have all become my best friends. My "real" dad passed away when I was only a couple months old and my mom was only 24 and had three little girls to raise. That's when my other "real" dad stepped in! He met and married my mom and has treated me and my sisters like his own from day one and we've always felt that we belong to him (because we do). I love my family!

Matt's family is also so amazing and I'm so glad we live close because I don't know what we'd do sometimes without them. The other day Gwen watched Brennen for me and also came and rescued me when my car was dead and then let me borrow her car to run my errands. They're always helping us out with stuff and they feed us dinner a lot and we know we can always call any of them if we need anything and I'm SO grateful for that.

And I'm so happy that I married Matt! I couldn't ask for a better husband and eternal companion. He is amazing and works really hard and loves me and Brennen so much. Brennen is such a good little boy. He only wakes us up once in the night to eat and some nights he doesn't wake up at all until around 6:00! (like last night, thanks little boy!!)

One Month!

Yesterday Brennen turned one month. Sometimes it seems like we've had him here with us for so much longer than that but other times I can't believe how fast time has gone. Here are a few things that have happened in his little life this past month.

  • He was born. :)

  • He went on a picnic in the Laramie range

  • He started gaining weight and now at a month he actually has some chub

  • He was blessed

  • He visited his grandma and grandpa in Lyman

  • He went with his dad to catch a fish (well, he and I actually stayed in the car but we drove with dad and we were right next to the creek!) :)

  • Once he rolled from tummy to back (it was totally a fluke)

  • He likes to visit his grandma Gwen and Aunt Mary (although he always seems to want to eat when we're there... oh wait! He ALWAYS wants to eat!)

  • He smiles like crazy now! I don't know how many are actually on purpose but they're so cute!

  • He likes car rides and walks in the stroller

  • His longest night sleep was 6 and half hours!

What else can you really say about a month old boy except that we love him SO much. We hoped and prayed for this little guy for awhile and I really feel like he's a miracle for us and we feel so happy that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with our little boy. It's amazing to me how much my life has changed and how everything suddenly seems to revolve around one thing. :) I kind of teased people who only talked about their kids on the phone or on their blogs but now I understand! :)

Here's a picture that my cousin-in-law Megan took a couple days ago. I love it!

Brennen's Blessing

Today we blessed our Brennen. Matt gave him a really nice blessing and both of our father's and all of our brothers who are elders stood in the circle. It was a great day. My entire family (minus my sister Christena's husband Rik) came for the blessing and it was a lot of fun to see them all and spend time with them.

Christena's twins, Abigail and Sophia, loved Brennen.

All 7 of my mom's grandchildren.
The whole family.
